Some protesters on Wednesday stormed U.S. Capitol, disrupting Congress meeting to confirm president-elect Joe Biden’s electoral victory.

BBC reported that the protest halted confirmation debate, forcing the police to call for reinforcement following the security breach.

“Protesters swarmed the Capitol building and forced a lockdown, halting debate in House and Senate”, BBC said. “Congress was meeting to confirm President-elect Joe Biden’s electoral college victory.

Some Republicans are trying to overturn the results in some states but lack sufficient support.”

President Donald Trump in a tweet however called for calm, urging his supporter not to resort to violence.

“I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!, Mr. Trump said.

Meanwhile, the Capitol police are having a torrid time trying to contain the threats of protesters trying to break into the chambers.

A footage on BBC showed the police drawing their guns, ready to protect the lawmakers in case the protesters force their way in.
