Nigerian government has ordered that night clubs, bars, schools event and recreational centers be shut down for the next five weeks in other to prevent a second wave of coronavirus. 

The Presidential Task Force on COViD-19 chaired by Secretary to the Government of the federation, Boss Mustapha made this known on Monday. 

Mr. Mustapha said night clubs, pubs, bars, recreational and event centers, schools are to remain closed until January 18, while “weddings, conferences, congresses, office parties, concerts, seminars, sporting activities, end of year events shall be restricted to not more than 50 persons.”

“Limit all gatherings linked to religious events to less than 50% capacity of the facility of use during which physical distancing; mandatory use of face masks shall be strictly enforced,” Mr. Mustapha said, adding that Nigerian government is studying the new strain of coronavirus and monitoring development in countries affected. 

Vice president Atiku Abubakar on Sunday warned the federal government to suspend all flights to and from the UK in other to prevent the spread the new strain of coronavirus into Nigeria. 

The UK government has imposed a Tier 4 lockdown in London and southeastern England to curb the spread of the new strain of coronavirus. 

European countries like France, Italy, Republic of Ireland, Netherlands, Latvia and Belgium have suspended flights to and from UK in a bid to curb the spread of the new strain of coronavirus into their territories.
