Ex-NSA Gambo Jimeta passes on
A former Inspector General of Police, Muhammadu Gambo Jimeta, is dead.
His death was announced on Thursday evening by family sources.
The cause of death is not immediately clear but condolences have been pouring in for the octogenarian.
President Muhammadu Buhari, while mourning the passing of the one time police chief described him as “a man of great courage, intellect and a true Nigerian Statesman,” according to a statement released on his behalf by spokesman Garba Shehu.
Mr. Jimeta led the Nigerian Police Force in 1986. He also served as a National Security Adviser to former military President, Ibrahim Babangida.
