President Donald Trump was on Wednesday impeached for a second time by the U.S. House of Representatives led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Mr. Trump was accused of inciting the violence that broke out at the U.S. Capitol on January 6.

Mr. Trump denied the allegations of incitement, and there was no evidence he incited the attempt to disrupt certification of President-elect Joe Biden by the Electoral College. Mr. Trump was seen in a video rallying his supporters to be peaceful and patriotic before the incident at the Capitol.

Nonetheless, Ms. Pelosi proceeded with other members of the Democratic Party and 10 other Republican members of the House to impeach Mr. Trump. It was the second of such since 219 when Mr. Trump was impeached over allegations of trying to bribe Ukrainian officials to go after his political oppponents.

Mr. Trump has now become the first American president to be impeached twice by the House. But the Senate has said it will not be voting to convict Mr. Trump before he leaves office on January 20, merely six days away.
