Buhari favours nepotism over national security: Bishop Kukah
Bishop Matthew Kukah on Friday said President Muhammadu Buhari is keen on institutionalising northern hegemony at the expense of national unity in the country.
Mr. Kukah, in his Christmas message, lamented the spate of insecurity in the country.
“The spilling of this blood must be related to a more sinister plot that is beyond our comprehension,” the Catholic Archbishop of Sokoto said.
“President Buhari deliberately sacrificed the dreams of those who voted for him to what seemed like a programme to stratify and institutionalise northern hegemony.”
“He has pursued this self-defeating and alienating policy at the expense of greater national cohesion.”
“Every honest Nigerian knows that there is no way any non-Northern Muslim President could have done a fraction of what President Buhari has done by his nepotism and gotten away with it”, Mr. Kukah said.
In September, Peoples Gazette had reported how the State Security Service under the watch of Mr. Buhari secretly conducted an uneven recruitment.
The secret recruitment allotted 535 slots to candidates from northern Nigeria, while just 95 slots were allotted to southern Nigeria.
Last month, the Gazette also exposed Mr. Buhari’s secret plot to scheme out the only qualified police office of Southern extraction to pave way for another northerner to emerge as Inspector General of Police once the present IG, Muhammed Adamu retires early next year.
